Is Isti`adhah sufficient to express one's intention?
A: The place of intention is the heart, and it is a condition for the validity of ‘Ibadah (worship). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Actions are only according to intentions, and every person shall have but that which they intended.” Therefore, Isti‘adhah (seeking refuge with Allah from Satan) does not suffice instead of intention.
